Gate Invest is an investment company founded by entrepreneur Paul Vermaat in 2016. Their focus as an investment company is on growth companies in the Dutch and Belgian mid-market of at least 2m EBITDA. They make these investments from a fund of €127.5 million that has been made available by the Vermaat family.

With a team of 9 investment professionals and an in-house marketing & communication team (De Studio), they help entrepreneurs realize their ambitions hands-on. Using their network and expertise, we focus on accelerating and strengthening organic growth, expansion into new (international) markets and further roll-out of a buy-and-build strategy. They are looking for deals where we can deliver demonstrable added value. Their portfolio of companies are active in a wide range of sectors, including the testing, inspection and certification (TIC), healthcare, food service and secondment market. In addition to expanding the current portfolio of companies, they are fully engaged in new platform investments.

Responsibilities

In this private equity internship, you are closely involved in all aspects of the investment process and portfolio management. 

  • You actively help the team with current and new transactions (including purchase, sale and financing). 
  • You independently make the initial analysis and assessment of new investment opportunities and help to map companies and the markets in which they operate. 
  • There is more than enough room for your ideas. Together with the team you will develop ideas and analyzes for new investments and commercial strategies 
  • You will delve into markets that you expect can be an interesting proposition for Gate.
  • You support the management teams of the portfolio companies This gives you the opportunity to develop in various fields, from financial to commercial and from operational to strategic.

At Gate they have an informal culture and short lines of communication. Clear, open and direct communication is important. During your internship you will collaborate with the entire team and there will be frequent feedback sessions to support your development.

Job Requirements

Who we are looking for in this private equity internship:

  • You have an entrepreneurial and hands-on mentality.
  • You combine strong analytical, social, and communication skills in your work.
  • You are able to process and analyze information efficiently and independently.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English.
  • You have one or more relevant previous internship experiences (such as M&A, private equity, venture capital, or consultancy).
  • You have completed a quantitative Bachelor's degree at a university (such as economics, econometrics, business administration, finance, computer science, or other STEM fields).
